PAPER BOATS AND PUDDLES
Rain, rain pour again
Kiss the earth, wet the plains
Let the clouds grow heavy and grey
To sweep the dust and heat away.
Pitter patter they drop from sky
Soaking all up, nothing is left to dry
Blue, red, yellow umbrellas open up to the sky
Embracing the storm in sheer delight.
Paper boats sail slowly in a puddle
Children clap and jump in a huddle
With rain all over, there’s nowhere to hide
So, they splash in the mud as they play outside.
Mom yells out from the open door
“Don’t stay out there a minute more!”
But who really cares to what Mummy says
The school is called off, for a rainy day.
The lightning flashes grand and bright
Nature’s very own dazzling flashlight
The thunder rolls, a loud boom
But who wants to go back to their room!
