Voter’s Duty by P V Vaidialingam
In the midst of exams
and election’s call,
India stands at a crossroad
for one and all.
Voices rise, urging this POET
to proclaim,
The duty of voters,
their role in the game.
Cash for vote, a vile practice,
we abhor,
Corrupting the essence of
what we’re voting for.
Seek not bribes,
but virtues in our choice,
For the future of India,
we must voice
Honesty and capability,
our guiding light,
Through the ballot box,
we should fight,
Let not party lines
or biases sway,
Our duty as citizens,
come what may.
To the youth, the torch bearers
of tomorrow’s dawn,
Your ballots shape
the path to be drawn.
Stand affirm,
resist temptation’s snare,
Vote with conscience,
for the future we share.
Democracy’s weapon,
wielded strong and true,
In the hands of youth,
our dreams renew.
Only in “Unity in Diversity”
we find our might,
To build a nation, bathed in
freedom’s light.
So heed this call,
O citizens of the land,
In the ballot box,
let principles stand.
In our vote,
lies the power to ignite,
To make India’s future
strong and bright.
