Threads of Love – A Rakshabandhan Sonnet
Upon my wrist, you tie the sacred thread,
Its silken hue a bond of trust and care;
Through years of joy, through tears that we have shed,
It whispers love no distance can impair.
Your watchful eyes, my shield in times of strife,
Have fought the storms that dared to darken me;
I pledge, as long as breath may gift me life,
To guard your heart from sorrow’s cruel sea.
The sweets we share bring back our childhood days,
Where laughter bloomed like flowers in the spring;
Through every trial, in all of fortune’s ways,
Our souls stay bound—no force can break this string.
Let this knot be more than ritual’s call,
It is the truest bond, the best of all.
