Ravindra Garimella has more than 30 years’ experience as a parliamentary officer in Lok Sabha Secretariat, Parliament of India.
Work experience: Starting his career in Table Office, he eventually headed the entire legislative division as Joint Secretary (Legislation) till 2019. He was also Officer at the Table for 25 years. His work experience covered entire day to day proceedings of the House (Lok Sabha), House related matters pertaining to the Table of the House, various parliamentary devices, legislative business-Government Bills, Motions, Budgetary process, Private Members’ Bills and Resolutions, cases of parliamentary privileges and anti-defection law cases. He also has a wide Committee experience including Committee of Privileges, Committee on Ethics, Committee on Subordinate Legislation, Business advisory Committee, Rules Committee, Committee on Public Undertakings, Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes, Departmentally Related Committee on Coal & Steel and various Inquiry Committees.

International Study programmes and Fellowships: He underwent:

(1) Inter-Parliamentary Study Programme organised by House of Representatives, Parliament of Australia, Canberra.

(2) International Legislative Drafting Programme organised by The Public Law, Tulane Law School, Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana USA.

(3) Progressive Development
Development Programme attachment with House of Commons and House of Lords, UK Parliament.

(4) He has been a Visiting Fellow at the University of Warwick and at the University of Nottingham.

Besides he was associated with CPA and several other conferences and led parliamentary delegations abroad.

He had also been Private Secretary to Minister of Tribal Affairs & Panchayati Raj from 2011 to 2014. He was also Assistant Returning Officer for the Presidential Elections ,2017.

He is regular correspondent writing for The Parliamentarian since 2005.
He has associated with several parliamentary publications, brought out his book titled “Parliament of India- Diverse Dimensions”.

He had also been engaged as Consultant by Speaker Lok Sabha for one year. During this period he was also Member-Secretary of the Committee to Review Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha.
Based on his experience he was associated with CPA Parliamentary Academy as Consultant.

He has on the faculty of speakers with BPST, now known as PRIDE since mid-1990.He is also on the faculty of Institute of Constitutional & Parliamentary procedures and Institutions.

He is presently Secretary to Leader of Opposition, Rajya Sabha (Council of States, the Upper House).
